THE HUNTER AND THE BIRD WHOSE DROPPINGS TURNED TO GOLD Where the Wild Things Are - A Bedtime Adventure

THE HUNTER AND THE BIRD WHOSE DROPPINGS TURNED TO GOLD

Once upon a time, on the very top of a majestic mountain, there stood a colossal tree. This tree was unlike any other, for it was the residence of a most peculiar bird named Sindhuka. Now, what made Sindhuka truly extraordinary was the miraculous transformation that occurred each time it discharged its droppings, which, to everyone’s astonishment, turned into pure, shimmering gold.

One fateful day, as the sun cast its warm embrace upon the mountain’s peak, a hunter arrived at this enchanting spot with a desire to capture birds. Hidden among the foliage, he observed the tree with great curiosity. As he watched, Sindhuka gracefully released its droppings, and like a magical alchemy, they transformed into a glistening piece of gold right before his eyes. The hunter stood there, utterly bewitched by the spectacle, his heart dancing with wonder.

He whispered to himself, “In all my years of chasing feathered creatures, never have I witnessed such an extraordinary sight!”

Unable to resist the allure of this golden marvel, the hunter swiftly devised a clever plan. With great care, he set a cunning trap within the branches of the tree, hidden from the watchful gaze of Sindhuka. The unsuspecting bird, absorbed in its own world, failed to notice the hunter’s presence or the treacherous snare that awaited it. In the blink of an eye, the foolish bird was ensnared, its melodious song silenced, and its wings of freedom clipped. The hunter carefully lifted Sindhuka out of the trap and placed it within a cage.

As he held the remarkable bird in his hands, a thought occurred to the hunter: “Before rumors of this wondrous creature reach the ears of the king through others, it is best that I present it myself.” Thus, with Sindhuka securely in his possession, the hunter embarked on a journey to the royal palace.

Upon arrival, the hunter recounted the extraordinary tale to the king, who was both astonished and delighted. He immediately commanded his attendants, “Guard this magnificent bird with utmost care! Provide it with the finest sustenance and refreshment.”

However, the king’s wise advisors, ever vigilant and cautious, voiced their concerns. “Your Majesty,” they cautioned, “can we truly place our trust in the words of a mere hunter? Can it be possible that gold springs forth from a bird’s droppings? We humbly suggest you release the bird from its cage for a fair test.” The king, recognizing the wisdom in their counsel, agreed.

The moment Sindhuka was freed, it perched gracefully atop a nearby gate. With a regal flourish, it released its droppings, and as if by the touch of Midas, they transformed into radiant gold. The bird, with a twinkle in its eye, spoke, “First, I was foolish. Then, the hunter. Next, the ministers. And finally, the king himself. We are all but a flock of unwitting fools.”

And so, in the same manner as this enchanting tale, dear children, sometimes we too discover the wisdom in unexpected places. Just as the king learned from Sindhuka, let us remember that knowledge can come from the most unlikely sources, and wisdom often lies in listening to the counsel of others.
